Hi,
Anybody working on this already? I have tried every NNTP client under
the sun for Linux and FreeBSD. From console versions to X11 ones. In
each one I always find problems. No offline support, no attachments
support (wtf?), no copy and paste, searching problems, limited filtering
etc..
XanaNews is the only one that seems to work really well, but
unfortunately it is only for Windows. I'm currently running it in a
Windows VM, but that is no long term solution.
Also XN has lots of issues running under WINE. Not to mention that if
you run 64-bit FreeBSD you can't install 32-bit WINE (though this should
be fixed in the upcoming FreeBSD 10).
Anyway, I am seriously thinking about writing my own NNTP client, or
porting XanaNews. But first I wanted to find out if anybody has started
a port using FPC and Lazarus maybe... in that case I don't mind
contributing to the efforts (instead of starting from scratch).
Regards,
