I am using XanaNews 1.20 on a Windows 10 PC, 64-bit.

All of a sudden, without me having done anything special to XanaNews, I
am getting this "Pipeline out of sequence" message whenever XanaNews
attempts to download messages from Usenet newsgroups. This is
happening with all the news server accounts that I have in XanaNews.

This does not happen when I download messages using Mozilla
Thunderbird; so I deduce that there is something wrong with XanaNews.

Any ideas how to fix this?

It looks like you are using Xananews to send this message so it can't
be entirely broken. Have you tried deleting the server and
resubscribing? What happens when you subscribe to the free servers
like AIOE or Eternal-September?

There's some sort of incompatibility between XanaNews v. 1.20 and
ZoneAlarm Extreme Security v. 15.1. Such incompatiblity does not exist
with ZoneAlarm Extreme Security v. 15.0.

For the time being, I've uninstalled ZA v. 15.1 and re-installed v.
15.0. That's why I am able to post and receive through XN.

I've also contacted ZoneAlarm's support staff who, of course, blame
XanaNews! They told me to contact XN's author and request that this
pipeline error be fixed...

So the change causing (or at least triggering) the issue was clearly on the ZA
side. It may help to ask them what changed exactly and why they think this is
an improvement for their customers and not a regression that needs to be fixed
in 15.1.1.
While it may be worth to work aound this in XN as well, ZA alarm is meant to
protect you and by doing so not get into your way - not to render other
software unusable.

Personally, when I see security-related software advertised with "Enjoy
*complete security* with..." ("...vollständige PC-Sicherheit..." on
https://www.zonealarm.com/de/) and a 72% discount ($89.95 -> $19.95 on
https://www.zonealarm.com), I'd probably look elsewhere for a more trustworthy
alternative...
